Short phrases you rearrange
Chops are stabs and syllables, not full verses. Stutter them, reverse the tail, retune them to the 808, and you get a hook without writing a topline. For multi-bar sung lines, browse vocal loops.
How producers actually place them
- Trap and drill. Park a chop on the snare, or fire rapid stabs between hat rolls so the groove talks back.
- R&B and pop. Softer syllables in the pre-chorus, then pull them out so a real vocal owns the drop.
- Afro house and club. Call-and-response as air and rhythm, not always as the main lyric.
