An 808 that misses the chord is harder to hide than drums a few BPM off. Prompt the key, whether notes slide or sit, and how long the tail holds after the kick. Aim for a pattern that leads the beat without crowding the kick.

By the music you are making

• Drill. Sliding glides that can carry the hook while drums stay sparse.
• Phonk and rage. Mid growl and aggressive weight. Say “thick mid” if you want the phone speaker to feel it.
