They Finished Their Assignment

I said,

"God,

why'd You take them

When they were the best of

us down here?"

And You whispered through the silence

"My child, come closer

Let Me make this clear

They finished what I gave them

Faster than the rest could ever

do The world was never worthy

So I brought them home to

Me, not away from you"

And You said,

"I didn't take them early I

rescued them from what was still

to come You see tragedy and

endings But I see battles already

won And the hurt you feel

so deeply Is the love I

let your heart outgrow Grief is

just love with no direction But

I'll teach you where that love

should go"

I cried,

"More

Why not more time?

Why couldn't they stay a little

while?"

And You answered with compassion "I

had to save them from the

coming trials You're standing in the

shadows But I'm holding every tear

you cry The depth of pain

you're feeling Proves the blessing I

placed in your life"

And You said,

"I didn't take them early I

Lord, how do I walk this

earth Without their light to guide

You didn't lose them You're becoming

who you're meant to be because

they shine Take the light they

left within you Let it live

through every step you climb When

the ache feels overwhelming Know it's

love that never learned to slow

Grief is love still overflowing So

let that love be what you

show
