From Marethys we cast our lines
Before the sky unraveled wide (ahhhh)
The harbors turned to cinder black
No lighthouse left to call us back
A creeping dark consumed the tide And pulled our drowned horizon wide
I miss the salt upon the stone
The harbor bells we called our own
Then pull, lads, pull through the starless gale!
We bear no fear,
we strike no sail!
With a shattered needle spinning blind
We seek the shores we left behind!
Marethys calls across the foam
With a broken compass,
we sail home! (heave ho!)
We took for granted gentle rain
The cobbled streets of fisherman's lane
Now only brass and cracked glass stay
To mock the route we lost that day
Yet every scar
upon our hands Will steer us to those sunken lands (sing on!)
Then pull, lads, pull through the starless gale!
We bear no fear,
we strike no sail!
With a shattered needle spinning blind
We seek the shores we left behind!
Marethys calls across the foam
With a broken compass,
we sail home!
The glass is cracked,
the iron bent
Our former world is torn and spent Yet in our blood
the current stays
Through endless, dark, adrift highways
(hold fast) Then pull,
lads, pull through the starless gale!
We bear no fear,
we strike no sail!
With a shattered needle spinning blind We seek the shores we left
behind! Marethys calls across the foam
With a broken compass,
we sail home!
(heave! ho!)
Spin, little needle, spin on through the dark...
We'll find our shores...
(we'll find our shores)
