We sat down by the Cumberland stream
Underneath the sycamore tree
You had your hand tucked inside of mine
And a little green friend on your knee
His shell was no bigger than a pocket watch
Just soaking up
the blue grass sun
We named him Stu right there on the spot
Our slow-moving family of one (mmmmm) Oh
Kentucky,
me and you
And a little turtle named Stu
Take it easy, take it slow
Where the wild clover grows
We got nowhere else we need to run
Just basking in the southern sun
Now years have gone by on this old front porch
And the world moves a little too fast
But we look on down at the garden patch
At a friendship built to last (yeah) Oh
Kentucky,
me and you
And a little turtle named Stu
Take it easy,
take it slow
Where the wild clover grows
We got nowhere else we need to run
Just basking in the southern sun
Just me,
and you...
And a little turtle named Stu... (mmmmm-hmm)
