Backpack Blues
I set
my
alarm for
seven AM And the universe broke again!
(one, two, three, go!)
Poured orange juice inside my cereal bowl Locked my backpack inside the
dog patrol
Tripped on the cat,
slid out the front door Missed the yellow bus,
had to sprint four miles or more Got to first period smelling
like toast
Sat down next to the classroom ghost!
Mister Henderson said there's a pop quiz today On quantum biology in
ancient Pompeii! I stared at the paper,
the letters took flight (oh
no, oh no!) My pencil snapped in half out of pure spite!
Somebody get me out of this school!
The cafeteria flooded the swimming pool!
Frogs in the hallway,
lockers on strike Somebody stole both wheels off my bike!
It's a five-alarm circus at third bell ring (hey!
hey!) Just another Monday doing crazy things!
At lunch they served something glowing in green The lunch lady called
it a space bean terrine
It spoke three words and jumped off my plate Told the principal
he was ten minutes late!
Gym class was dodgeball against a machine
Firing gym socks that nobody had cleaned!
The fire alarm went off to play jazz Principal hopped on the
mic with pizzazz! I ran for the exit,
the doors turned to lead (trapped in here!)
Should've stayed sleeping at home in my bed!
Somebody get me out of this school!

Three o'clock bell, is it over at last?
I packed up my binder and crawled through the grass Turned 'round
to look and the building was gone Just a giant brass marching
band playing on the lawn!

Tomorrow is Tuesday, and they change all the rules!
(help me!) I didn't do the homework!
I lost my shoe!
