(shhhh... did you hear that?)
Four AM, the ceiling fan is turning slow
Every shadow on the wall is putting on a show Three cups
of cold coffee, eyes are bloodshot red
Swear I heard a heavy footstep right above my head (wait) No,
the upstairs flat has been empty for a year Just the static
on the TV feeding on my fear
There's a scraping on the floorboards,
scraping on the glass Tell myself it's just a hallucination that'll pass
But the doorknob is turning,
very slow, very light Yeah,
I really shouldn't have stayed awake for five nights
(hahaha!) I think I finally,
totally lost it!
Staring at the shadow in my closet!
No escape, lock the grate,
now I'm trapped inside!
Nowhere left for a lunatic to hide!
Look at the peephole,
there is nothing but an empty hall Then a whisper from the
kitchen, crawling down the wall My shadow is detaching,
dancing on its own accord Staring at the ceiling with my hand
upon a rusty sword (who is that?) I got a cabinet of
chemicals to keep me sane But they're bubbling and boiling straight inside
my brain
Is it real?
Is it fake?
How many hours can a human mind awake?
(six nights... seven nights...)
I think I finally,
totally lost it!
Staring at the shadow in my closet!
No escape, lock the grate,
now I'm trapped inside!
Nowhere left for a lunatic to hide! (shhhh...)
(they're in the walls...)
