Reito Hokori: One Step Ahead
Tick-tock...
Keep your
eyes
on me.
You take a step,
I take two.
You throw a punch—
I move right through.
Don't waste your breath,
Don't waste your pride.
If you're looking for me...
I'm
already outside.
You swing high, I duck low,
You turn around—
There I go. Left,
right,
Gone like smoke, Every time you think I'm caught,
That's when I— Break the joke.
One step ahead, two steps away,
Keep on chasing, make my day.
Every miss is mine to keep,
Every move just digs you deep.
Run at me, I'll let you try,
Watch your greatest chance pass by.
You can fight until you're dead—
But you'll never catch me.
I'm one step ahead.
You call it luck?
That's cute.
You call it skill?
Getting warmer.
You think I've shown you everything?
...
Not even close.
Every dodge,
Every breath, Every second dancing with death— I keep it.
I stack it. I feel it.
And I never forget it.
So come on.
Hit me harder. Give me everything you've got.
Because every time you miss...
I get
stronger.
I don't need a throne,
I don't need a crown,
I don't need the whole world To tell me I'm the one.
I know.
That's enough. You brought your anger,
fear, and tears But I'm still smiling.
Funny, isn't it? You came here to win...
And somehow you're dancing to my rhythm.
One step ahead, two steps away,
Keep on chasing, make my day.
Every miss is mine to keep,
Every move just digs you deep.
Run at me, I'll let you try,
Watch your greatest chance pass by.
You can fight until you're spent— But I haven't started yet.
Tick.
Tick. Tick. ... Time's up.
ONE STEP AHEAD—NOW WATCH ME FLY!
ALL THAT POWER, ALL THAT TIME!
EVERY SECOND THAT YOU GAVE,
EVERY HIT I NEVER TOOK— EVERYTHING IS MINE TO SAVE!
COME ON! BREAK YOUR FISTS!
BREAK YOUR PRIDE!
THROW YOUR BEST AND WATCH IT DIE!
I'VE BEEN WAITING, I'VE BEEN READY—
NOW I'M DONE PLAYING NICE!
You chased me. You cornered me.
You thought you finally
had me. Tick. ...
Bad move. One step...
Two steps...
Too late. Tick. See you at the top.
