I used to think I had to know
Exactly who I’d be,
Like growing up was just a road
With signs for where to turn.
But lately I’ve been changing
In ways I can’t explain,
Some days I feel like someone new,
Some days I’m still the same.
I’m not who I was yesterday,
But I’m not there just yet,
Maybe there’s a little space
Where I’m supposed to be instead.
Somewhere in between
The girl I was and who I’ll be,
Somewhere between the old dreams
And the ones I’ve yet to dream.
I’m learning how to let things change,
Learning I don’t need a plan,
I’m not lost, I’m just becoming
Who I’m meant to be.
Somewhere in between.
(somewhere in between)
There are things I used to love
That don’t feel quite the same,
And things I never noticed
That are calling out my name.
My friends are changing too,
And sometimes so am I,
We’re all becoming different people Right before each other’s eyes.
Maybe growing isn’t knowing
Every answer when you start,
Maybe it’s collecting little pieces
Of a changing heart.
Maybe I’ll look back someday
And miss this version of me,
The awkward days, the little things,
The person I was trying to be.
So I won’t rush tomorrow,
I’ll let today be what it is.
There’s something kind of beautiful
About not knowing yet.
Somewhere in between
The past and everything ahead,
Somewhere between the words I said And all the ones I left
unsaid. I’m learning I can change my mind,
I’m learning I can take my time,
And maybe I don’t need to find Exactly where I fit.
Maybe this is where I’m meant to be—
Somewhere in between.
Not a beginning,
Not the end,
Just somewhere in between.
(somewhere in between)
