There were questions with no answers,
Long roads I had to walk,
Rooms full of waiting,
And words I couldn’t talk.
A little heart was frightened,
A body feeling tired,
Trying to understand a journey
I never had desired.
And when the worry started rising,
When my thoughts became too loud,
I wished that someone could see me,
Not just the things they wrote down.
But I’m still here,
I’m still standing,
Even when the road gets hard.
There’s a little light inside me,
There’s still hope inside my heart.
Through the trauma, through the fear,
Through the days I felt alone,
I’ll keep taking one more step,
Until I find my way back home.
Perthes was a strange word
For a child to understand,
X-rays, scans and appointments,
Questions written down.
Between the gaps of waiting,
I wondered who would hear
The things I couldn’t explain,
The things I carried here.
And anxiety
could whisper,
“What if nothing ever changes?” But somewhere underneath it,
A tiny voice said,
“Keep going.”
I’m still here, I’m still standing,
Even when the road gets hard.
There’s a little light inside me,
There’s still hope inside my heart.
Through the trauma, through the fear,
Through the days I felt alone,
I’ll keep taking one more step,
Until I find my way back home.
I needed someone to listen,
Someone willing to stay,
Someone to see the person
Behind the diagnosis on the page.
I needed kindness
in the silence,
A hand when I felt lost,
Someone to remind me That asking for help isn’t a cost.
And maybe love isn’t always
A perfect answer
or a cure.
Sometimes love is simply Someone saying,
“I see you. You’re not alone anymore.”
When my mind says,
“You’re alone,”
I’ll remember that isn’t true.
When fear becomes a storm,
I’ll look for something calm
to hold onto. I don’t have to know tomorrow.
I don’t have to have it planned.
I can take today slowly,
One small step
at a time.
I’m still here, I’m still standing,
And I’m stronger than I know.
There is hope beyond the waiting,
There is somewhere I can go.
Through the trauma, through the fear,
Through the nights I couldn’t see,
I’ll keep taking one more step
Until I find the strength in me.
The road may not be easy,
And the answers may take time,
But hope can grow in quiet places,
Even when the world feels blind.
I am more than what has happened.
I am more than what they see.
I am more than a diagnosis.
There is hope. There is love.
And there is still me.
