Looking in the glass again
Something standing right behind my skin (hmmm)
The silhouette inside the mirror staring down at me
I can't explain the weight
of what it demands to see
Trapped inside a pattern that was never mine to make
Bound to every broken path I tried so hard to break
Sometimes I catch the child looking through the glass
Big eyes full of wonder watching seasons pass
Warm innocence resting where the morning light remains
Before the heavy silence washed across the plains
I can't escape the gaze that holds me here
Cut short by everything I used to fear
Now I am marked by hidden scars and stained design
Haunting memories wrapped around this spine (ohhh)
I see the ghosts of all the lives I left behind
Innocent and fragile,
scattered through my mind
Cut down before they ever had the chance to speak
By the towering cold presence reaching for the weak
I can't escape the gaze that holds me here
Cut short by everything I used to fear
Now I am marked by hidden scars and stained design
Haunting memories wrapped around this spine
Vivid dreams won't let me sleep
Promises the mirror
couldn't keep
I became the sorrow that I tried to run away from (ahhhh)
Stained skin and weary eyes
Underneath these colder skies
Just the glass...
Just what remains.
