Yeah…
(Yeah, yeah)
SL to the UK,
man.
Sierra Leone, that's where the story began.
South London,
that's where I learned to be a man.
Peckham days…
Woolwich nights…
Aylesbury State, had to learn to survive.
I never told them everything I've been through.
But every scar on my soul tells the truth.
(On God…
real pain… 4L…)
I came from SL,
now I'm deep in the ends,
Lost a couple smiles,
had to learn who my friends.
2016, had my girl,
changed my life, Now I grind through the pain just to make
sure they're alright. My kids are my heart,
put my soul in these songs,
Had to carry that weight when the road got long.
From Peckham to Woolwich,
had to fight through the rain,
South London made me,
but my kids keep me sane.
(My babies, my babies!) (That's my reason,
no lie!) 808s hit hard,
but there's pain inside,
SL in my blood,
got my pride worldwide.
When I touched down London,
everything felt strange, Coming straight from SL,
had to deal with the change.
Peckham was the chapter where I opened my eyes,
Concrete all around me,
had to learn streetwise.
Different kind of pressure,
different rules to the game,
Everybody's got a story,
everybody's got pain.
Young black boy in the ends,
they judge before they know,
See the colour of my skin,
not the places I could go.
(You don't know my story!)
Police lights flashing, got you watching your back,
Feeling eyes on your movement when you're walking your path.
Some treat you like a threat before you say a word,
You get tired of explaining,
feel like nobody's heard.
And the streets don't forgive when you're trying to grow,
Too much pressure on your shoulders that nobody knows.
Friends change, roads turn,
some get lost in the mix,
You see dreams disappear over one wrong twist.
(Real life!)
Peckham taught me lessons that I never requested,
Had to watch who I trusted,
keep my focus protected.
Trying to find my own place in a world full of doubt,
With a thousand different thoughts that I couldn't speak out.
Then the journey kept moving,
new roads, new scenes,
From Peckham to Woolwich,
still chasing my dreams.
Aylesbury State in Woolwich,
another chapter to face,
Trying to find some peace,
trying to carve out a space.
Every move came with change,
every change came with stress,
Trying to build up a future while I'm fighting the mess.
London cold in the winter,
colder sometimes in the heart,
Had to pick up the pieces when life tore me apart.
I seen how the pressure can get into your brain,
How you laugh with the crowd while you're hiding your pain.
How you tell everybody that you're doing okay,
Then you're sitting by yourself with too much on your plate.
(Late nights…
no sleep…)
I ain't saying every road had darkness and fear,
But the struggles I experienced made the picture clear.
Being young, being black,
trying to make something real,
While the world has its opinions on the way that you feel.
I came here with a dream,
I ain't come here to fold,
Had to turn all my pain into something of gold.
I got children looking up,
I got reasons to rise,
Can't let the past write the rest of my life.
From Freetown to Peckham,
from the struggle to growth,
I'm still standing on my feet,
and I'm proud of them both.
They can talk about the ends,
they can talk about the past,
But the man that I'm becoming is the one that's gonna last.
(SL to the UK!)
(Still standing!) (For my kids!)
Sometimes I wonder what my life would've been
If I never knew the struggles,
never lived what I've seen.
But I can't change the past,
I can only move ahead,
(Yeah,
moving ahead)
I came from SL,

SL to South London…
Did it for the family. (Always.)
