I scrolled past a memory,
frozen in time,
A picture of you,
and a mountain
I can't climb.
I saw the way
you leaned into his side,
With nowhere left for my feelings to hide,
The sunlight caught the smile you
wore,
The kind I’ve been waiting
to see at my door.
His hand is resting
where I wish mine could be,
It’s a jagged edge
cutting right through me,
He’s looking at you like you’re the only view,
And I’m just a ghost standing behind the hue.
I stare at the pixels,
searching for a sign,
That maybe your heart isn’t fully his line,
But the way you’re glowing,
so soft and so bright,
Tells me you’ve already found your light.
I’m just a shadow
on the edge of the frame,
Trying to whisper a hope you won’t name,
Did I miss my
moment?
Did I wait too long?
Or was I just singing
a different song? (ohhh) (hmmmm)
Is there a space left in your world for me,
Or am I just drifting on a landlocked sea?
Seeing you happy,
I know I should smile,
But I’m counting the distance,
mile after mile.
Maybe one day the picture will change,
Or maybe the distance is all that’s in range.
