Eagle’s Comfort Song
(hummmm) Up from Comfort Cove to Newstead shore
A buddy true as tides that turn no more
We walked the cliffs where salt spray gently clings
Now you take flight upon an eagle's wings
(rest easy b'y)
My shore is my island My beckon domain
Ne'er to leave me island Oh ne'er no more 'Cause my island
is home
Soar high, brother,
like an eagle in the blue
Over Notre Dame Bay watching through and through
A great Newfoundland friend who found the open sky
Until we meet again where the white gulls fly
The wooden dories resting by the stage
A quiet town that holds your every page
No kinder soul has walked these rocky hills
Your laughter lingers when the evening chills (mm-mm)
Soar high, brother,
like an eagle in the blue
Over Notre Dame Bay watching through and through
A great Newfoundland friend who found the open sky
Until we meet again where the white gulls fly
High above the cove...
Sail on, old friend. (ahhhh)
