I woke up somewhere else,
didn't recognize the view,
Same face inside the mirror,
different things that I knew.
Same hands, different scars,
same name, different weight,
Same clock above the doorway,
different meaning to the date.
I remember chasing answers like they owed me something back,
Had a future drawn in pencil,
watched the rain erase the map.
Thought the road was gonna straighten if I gave it enough miles,
But the distance changed the driver,
not the numbers on the dial.
Now the things I used to pray for don't impress me like
they did, And the things I used to hide from taught me
more than what I hid.
Had to lose a couple versions of the person I had planned,
Just to find the one who finally knows exactly where he stands. I
woke up somewhere else,
Underneath a different sky.
Didn't know the world was changing While I was learning how to
fly.
Everything I thought I wanted
Looks different from up here.
I woke up somewhere else—
And somehow I belong here.
Used to measure every victory by the people who could see it,
Now I build it in the silence,
let the daylight introduce it.
Had a thousand conversations with the man I used to be,
He kept telling me to turn around,
I told him wait and see.
Funny how the smallest choices make the biggest kind of noise,
How a lifetime gets assembled out of ordinary joys.
How the people who once knew you only know the older draft,
And the chapter that you're living doesn't fit the photograph.
I ain't claiming I arrived,
I ain't claiming I was right,
Still got mountains in the distance,
still got questions every night.
But I don't mistake the darkness for the ending anymore,
Sometimes waking up somewhere else means you finally found a door.
Maybe nothing disappeared.
Maybe everything just moved.
Maybe all the roads I lost Were the roads that led me
through.
I woke up somewhere else,
Underneath a different sky.
Didn't know the world was changing While I was learning how to
fly.
Everything I thought I wanted
Looks different from up here.
I woke up somewhere else—
And somehow I belong here.
Same life.
Different eyes.
Whole different world.
