(ooh-ooh) First grade hallway, lunchbox in my hand
Aiden in Room B,
I was in Room A
Separate doors along the walkway
We caught each other's eyes before the bell
With that little secret wave we knew so well
Back home I'd copy how you talked all night
Driving my poor mother out of sight
She would throw her hands up in despair
Saying 'Amelia,
why do you talk like that?' I just laughed and spun around
in my chair
It's just young love,
mother, can't you see?
Aiden is the sweetest boy in the whole world to me!
Across the corridor waving hello
A brand new heart with nowhere else to go
(yeah, it's just young love)
Then the world shut down and paper masks came in
They made my face itch red against my skin
So I had to switch schools just to breathe
Packed up our notebooks,
had to leave
Still I looked for you in every crowd Saying your name right
out loud
Third grade came and we packed the car
Headed down south,
way down far
Florida sun where the palm trees sway Three thousand miles away
Did you ever wave goodbye?
It's just young love,
mother, can't you see?
Aiden's still a sunny part of my history!
Across the country, looking at the shore
Remembering that first grade corridor
(oh-oh, young love)
It never really fades away!
Still waving from the hall (ooh-ooh) Hey Aiden
