I woke up to somebody breathing
But I live alone
Three slow knocks from underneath me
Then silence on the phone
There’s a picture in the hallway
I don’t remember taking
Every night the face gets closer
Every morning, I’m mistaken
I hear my name behind the door
I know I locked it twice
Something sighs, “Don’t look back”
So I look back every night
There’s somebody standing in my room When I close my eyes,
I see them move They wear my face,
they know my voice They tell me I
don’t have a choice
And every time I scream for help
The voice that answers sounds like me
It says, “You
should’ve left by now”
Then something laughs beneath the floor (hahahaha)
My mother called me yesterday
Said she hadn’t slept in weeks
She asked me why I keep on calling
When I never said a thing
The hallway keeps getting longer
The clocks have stopped at three
And there’s a little note beside my bed
That says, “You belong to me.”
Don’t turn around
Don’t turn around
Don’t turn around (shhh)
…Why did you turn around?
There’s nobody standing in my room But someone’s breathing next to you
The lights go out,
the walls go still
And something sighs from the hall
“I’ve been here since you were born.” “I’ve been waiting for you
to notice.” “You thought you were listening to the song…”
But you were listening to me
And now I know you’re awake
