(woah-oh, yeah)
Six in the morning under ponderosa pine
Lacing up our trainers right on time
Up in Bend at Bowerman,
barely got a bite to eat
Luke and I were dashing out to hit the dusty street
Counselors laughed at my name,
Joe Joost, all in good fun
Then John and Ben got turned around right in the middle of
our run
Put us in the Scalywags,
that's where I met Alana Sitting at the table with some friends
from out of nowhere Jesuit boys got kicked out for sneaking in
a car While we were chasing trails under the Oregon stars
Oh, floating down the river holding hands in the spray!
Two thousand feet up on the peak that sunny day!
Elenor and Lauren laughed 'cause she was faster than me
Best summer run of our lives running wild and free! (woah-oh-oh)
I was sitting all alone until they pulled up a chair
Luke cracking jokes about the chilly morning air
Took pictures on the mountain summit looking at the view
Counting every mile and every river run with you
Three months rolled on by when the summer went away
Woodbridge meet in autumn on a crisp race day
Saw all of the faces from the trail in the sun
Elenor and Lauren, man,
we had another run!
Floating down the river holding hands in the spray!
Two thousand feet up on the peak that sunny day!
Elenor and Lauren laughed 'cause she was faster than me
Best summer run of our lives running wild and free!
(yeah, running wild and free!)
Bowerman camp, we'll never forget Scalywags running till the sun had set
Joe Joost and the crew,
we're out on the run! (woah-oh-oh)
