Starting new

I'm leaving the darkness behind,

but I'm not pretending it never happened.

I'm finally looking forward,

because it could be my end at any time.

I drugged up my life at the start but now I'm freeing

myself and fixing my heart.

That hole i dug tore me apart,

I messed up my life right from the start,

Now I'm breaking free and fixing my heart.

I had bad days,

and i know I made some mistakes,

But I'm still here,

and if that's what it takes.

I'm leaving the darkness,

I'm stepping to light,

Trying to make my future feel right.

The past is behind me,

it made me who I am,

Now I'm moving forward and doing what I can.

I can't change the past,

so I let it go,

I'm done looking back

at the things I don't know.

I'm finding some peace,

I'm starting to smile,

And I'm learning to live,

one day at a time.

I'm leaving the darkness,

I'm stepping into light,

Finally learning that it's okay to be alright.

The past made
