O sons of light,
the lofty courts attend,
And ascribe to the Lord both might and grace,
Let down your songs as Silent Heavens bend.
Give Him the glory that His Name requires,
And bow before the Beauty of His Face,
Adore Him where His Holiness inspires.
The voice of God rolls over ocean deeps,
The God of Glory
thunders in His Place,
Above the wild and surging wave He leaps.
His spoken word
is clothed in heavy power,
A Majesty
that fills the boundless space,
It shakes the sky
above the morning hour.
His Voice strikes hard and snaps the cedar crest,
He breaks the wood
of Lebanon’s embrace,
And lays the giant forest down to rest.
He makes the mount
of Lebanon skip high,
Like leaping calves that bound in open chase,
Circling chain dances ‘neath the stormy sky.
O sons of light,
the lofty courts attend,
And ascribe to the Lord both might and grace,
Let down your songs as Silent Heavens bend.
Give Him the glory that His Name requires,
And bow before
the Beauty of His Face,
Adore Him where
His Holiness inspires.
The Voice of God cuts clear with fiery flash,
The lightning tears the dark without a trace,
And leaves the shadowed canopy to ash.
The Voice of God stirs up the barren wild,
The desert shakes before His dread embrace,
Kadesh is moved like any trembling child.
The Voice of God makes mighty oaks to twirl,
And strips the woods to leave a naked space,
While temple voices shout with sudden curl:
“Glory!” they cry inside the holy place.
Above the flood
the Lord sits on His Throne,
An Endless King
who holds the time and pace,
He rules the surging waters all alone.
O sons of light,
the lofty courts attend,
And ascribe to the Lord both might and grace,
Let down your songs as Silent Heavens bend.
Give Him the glory that His Name
requires, And bow before
the Beauty of His Face,
Adore Him where His Holiness inspires.
He gives His people strength to bear the night,
And crowns each weary soul with quiet grace,
He blesses them with peace and gentle light. (ahhhh)
