Yeah…
Peace is expensive, chaos is free,
Look around,
tell me what you see.
Uh…
Peace is expensive, chaos is free,
Childhood flew by — remember the birds and the bees?
Now it’s all about the Benjamins,
look at the world we living in,
Everybody chasing dollars, but tell me,
who really winning?
Cops knocking on doors,
lurking for the next score,
Ice ain’t knocking — they’re shooting,
what we fighting for?
Devil running cold, folks ain’t even allowed to grow old,
Another story on the news,
another heart turned cold.
Dinner ain’t even on the stove,
Bills piling up, nobody knows where the money goes,
Listen to the water dripping behind the shower wall,
Praying it don’t turn to mold,
praying the ceiling don’t fall.
Peace is expensive, chaos is free,
Everybody got a price,
but what’s the cost to be me?
Life ain’t all about living,
sometimes it’s more than you see,
Sometimes it’s giving way more than you got just to breathe.
Peace is expensive, chaos is free,
Look into the mirror — tell me,
what do you see?
We keep giving, giving,
giving, till there’s nothing left to give,
Trying to survive this life while we’re learning how to live.
Mama working overtime, daddy trying to make ends meet,
Kids growing up too fast with the world underneath their feet.
Everybody wants a piece,
everybody wants a name,
But nobody wants to talk about the pressure and the pain.
Social media smiling while the real world falls apart,
Everybody showing riches, hiding damage in their heart.
They say money makes the world go round — maybe that’s true,
But what good is all that money when it can’t buy back
you?
Water still dripping, hear it tapping through the night,
Trying to fix the little things while the big things ain’t right.
One problem turns to two,
two turn into four,
You patch another hole,
then another one appears on the floor.
And I wonder…
How much can a person take?
How many sacrifices does it really take to make?
How much
of yourself can you give away
Before you wake up one morning and forget who you became?
Peace is expensive, but I’m paying that fee,
I’d rather have my freedom than somebody else’s degree.
I’d rather have a full heart than a pocket full of greed,
Rather plant something real than keep watering a seed.
We came from the struggle,
but the struggle ain’t the end,
Sometimes you lose yourself just trying to pretend.
Life isn’t just living,
it’s the choices that you make,
The people that you love,
the sacrifices that you take.
So if you hear that dripping,
don’t ignore that sound,
Fix what you can before the whole thing comes down.
And if somebody needs you,
don’t just turn and leave,
’Cause sometimes giving everything is how you learn to breathe.
Peace is expensive…
Chaos is free…
But I’ll pay whatever it costs
To keep the peace inside of me.
Life ain’t all about living…
Sometimes it’s more…
Way more than you’re giving.
Yeah…
Way more than you’re giving.
