  • Rising From the Ashes

    Rising From the Ashes

    Maggie Dzhanumova|1

I was just a mama living an ordinary life,

Two little hearts depending on me every night.

    A husband by my side,

    a family I adored,

Then cancer came and changed everything I knew before.

I learned what fear feels like

When you’re staring at the unknown,

When you’re trying to be someone’s strength

    While falling apart alone.

But I looked into my children’s eyes And made a promise through

my tears— No matter what comes for me,

I won’t let it take these years.

    There were nights I prayed,

    There were nights I cried,

There were moments I didn’t know How I’d make it through the

night. But somewhere underneath the fear,

    A fire came alive…

    I’m still here.

I’m still standing. I’m still fighting for the life I love.

    I’ve walked through the darkness,

    I’ve stared down the fear,

And somehow I kept getting back up.

Twice life tried to break me,

Twice I found my way through.

For my babies, for my husband,

For the ones who never let me lose.

I am more than what I’ve been through,

    More than every scar.

I’m proof that even broken hearts Can still become something strong.

You can knock me to my knees,

But you’ll never take my light.

I’m still here. I’m still breathing.

    Still I rise.

I know what it’s like to smile

    When you’re hurting underneath,

To tell the ones you love you’re okay When you’re searching for

    belief.

I know the weight of waiting,

    The questions with no answers,

The days when courage doesn’t feel Like anything but getting through.

But my children gave me purpose,

    My husband gave me strength,

And the people who stood beside me Helped me take another step.

    Every tear became a lesson,

    Every storm became a scar,

    And every time I thought I couldn’t,

    I discovered who I am.

    I didn’t choose this battle,

But I chose how I would fight.

And every morning I wake up Feels like another victory of life.

And maybe strength isn’t never being afraid… Maybe strength is being afraid

    And choosing to stay.

Maybe surviving isn’t just waking up— Maybe it’s dancing again.

    Loving again.

    Laughing again.

    Living again.

So I won’t spend my life Counting everything I lost.

I’ll count every morning I was given,

    Every hug, every laugh,

every moment, Every reason I kept going.

    I’m still here!

    I’m still standing!

    Look at everything I’ve overcome!

    I’ve walked through the darkness,

    And I came back shining,

And I’m not finished— I’ve only just begun!

    For my babies,

    For my husband,

For the woman I refused to lose,

For every person fighting silently Who needs to hear this truth: You

    are more than your diagnosis.

You are more than your pain.

You are more than the hardest chapter Written in your name.

And if tomorrow brings another mountain,

I’ll climb it one more time.

Because I know who I am now.

I’ll climb it! I know what lives inside.

I’m still here. I’m still breathing.

I’m still loving. I’m still fighting.

And after everything… STILL I RISE.

For every mother who is fighting…

    For every

    family

    holding on… For

every survivor finding their way back to life… You

are still here. And you can still

    rise.
