Found a box of pictures underneath my bed There’s a girl with
purple bangs and a questionable head
Of ideas about fashion and a boy named Keith Who wore sunglasses
indoors and had terrible teeth
I thought he was mysterious,
thought he was deep Turns out he just liked hearing himself speak
But I learned a thing or two from that disaster Mostly how
to run a little faster
Every wrong turn brought me
here
And I wouldn’t trade these years Well,
mostly…
I wouldn’t change a thing
Except a few
things That haircut and that tattoo
And the man who bought me two rings I’d keep the laughs,
I’d keep the tears I’d keep the friends who stuck around I’d
keep the girl who fell apart And figured out how to stand
her ground
I wouldn’t change a thing
Except a few things!
Remember when I thought I could cook?
Set off the alarm making something from a book
Told my friends, “It’s supposed to look black” They ordered pizza,
never let me live it back Bought a car that only started
downhill
Spent my last twenty on a parking bill But I drove that
thing across three state lines Singing every song like the world was
mine
Every little mess I made
Gave me something good to
say Well, mostly…
I wouldn’t change a thing
Except a few
things That haircut and that tattoo
And the man who bought me two rings I’d keep the laughs,
I’d keep the tears I’d keep the friends who stuck around I’d
keep the girl who fell apart And figured out how to stand
her ground
I wouldn’t change a thing
Except a few things!
And if I met that younger me
I’d tell her, “Honey,
you’re gonna be okay”
Then I’d hug her for a minute And gently take those purple
bangs away
I WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING
Except a few
things! All the wrong roads,
all the right turns
All the lessons that the hard years bring
I’d keep the laughs,
I’d keep the tears Every friend who stuck around I’d keep the
girl who fell apart And figured out how to stand her ground
I wouldn’t change a thing
Except a few things!
Seriously, though…
What was I thinking with those bangs?
