Let the numbers sink in deep,

Four women die daily in the U.S.,

they don't wake from sleep.

From current or former partners—a love that turned to hate,

What do I say about this?

Do I just sit back and wait?

Can I take responsibility for myself and look inside?

To prevent this many deaths,

I gotta swallow my pride.

One hundred and forty women,

a global, daily toll,

Are killed by a family member—losing all control.

Every day around the world,

it's a silent, raging war,

This rate equals roughly one woman...

what am I fighting for?

Killed every ten minutes—a life erased,

a light gone out,

By someone in her own family...

that's what this is about.

So I'm drawing a line in the sand right now,

this is my sacred vow.

I take the pledge,

with my own two hands...

I will be nonviolent,

I will take a stand.

Respect my body, protect the land...

I AM NVP, you can be too,

It begins with me,

and it begins with you.

I can't control the world,

but I can control my own hands,

I can't fix the system,

but I can try to understand.

My own words, my own rage,

the things that I choose to say,

I won't let my ego or my anger lead me astray.

I'm checking my reflection,

I'm looking in my eyes,

Am I part of the problem,

or am I part of the rise?

I won't pass the blame,

I won't look the other way,

I'm owning my actions,

starting here today.
