(tick, tock... tick, tock...)
Alarm clock buzzing, it’s a shock to the spine
Sun barely peeking through the silhouette of blinds Groggy thoughts heavy,
standing cold in the shower
Tracing out my future in the first waking hour Feet hit the
pavement while the city is still Chasing after paper just to pay
for the bill
The coffee’s lukewarm but the ambition is hot Got my mind on
a vision that the world hasn't caught
Staring at the mirror,
blinking sleep from my eyes
Asking if the hustle matches up to the prize Tie my laces
tight, grab my keys,
hit the door Before the clock strikes seven,
I’ll be hunting for more
The morning routine is a battle with time Just a regular soul
trying to conquer the climb
Twenty-four hours on a ticking clock The pressure never stops from the
block to the top From the first morning breath to the late-night
zone We just grinding through the hours trying to claim the throne
Yeah, the minutes keep moving,
the seconds won't wait Every single tick is a brush with fate
Now it’s two in the afternoon,
the peak of the heat
Fluorescent lights buzzing, traffic jammed on the street
The inbox is flooding and the phone lines are blown Everybody wants
a piece of what I haven't grown The stress is hitting heavy,
right between the shoulder blades Deadlines closing in,
watching how the light fades
Taking deep breaths just to keep from a crash
Balancing the passion with the need for the cash This the middle
of the jungle where the weak get consumed No time for complaints
in a high-pressure room Keep your head on a swivel,
keep your foot on the gas Gotta make sure the hustle outlives
the hourglass
Twenty-four hours on a ticking clock The pressure never stops from the
block to the top From the first morning breath to the late-night
zone We just grinding through the hours trying to claim the throne
Yeah, the minutes keep moving,
the seconds won't wait Every single tick is a brush with fate
Clock hits ten at the night,
and the atmosphere flips The paranoia creeps in and the sanity slips
Shadows on the wall looking larger than life Reflecting on the day,
cutting deep like a knife Is it worth all the stress?
Did I make the right move?
Or am I just a body stuck inside of a groove?
Bright lights flashing from the street down below While the late-night thoughts
start to put on a show
The quiet is loud when you're left on your own
Staring at the screen of a silent cell phone Lock the front
door, turn the lamps to a dim Just a tired-out soul sinking
under the rim
Midnight is coming... Then we reset.
Six AM is right
around
the corner. (tick, tock)
Just a day in the life.
