Soul Tethered Flight

In a simple room,

no colors on the wall,

A light is beating,

though no candle burns at all.

It ain't from fire,

it ain't from any flame,

It's shining from a heart that never knew its name.

A mirror lives inside that honest heart,

A shadow sits there,

waiting in the dark.

The light of wisdom finds its way inside,

And something deep begins to breathe and rise.

Like a midnight wind,

so gentle, yet so strong,

A silent river carrying an ancient song.

You cannot hear it,

but it shakes the ground,

A quiet kind of thunder with no sound.

His waking mind has broken through the doubt,

His soul has found the door and walked it out.

From earth to sky,

he lets his thinking fly,

He keeps the light alive when all the world goes blind.

Let your spirit bird break loose and fly,

Don't tie its wings beneath a fearful sky.

It's fire that gives the soul its wings to rise,

Not careful thoughts that keep it paralyzed.

But when you finally say,

"I don't know,"

You'll meet yourself—and finally know

who you are.
