    Swayin’ Like a Boat

    Swayin’ Like a Boat

    Player|1

    (alright

    now)

    Driving down the back roads,

    Radio playing low,

Sun hanging over the tree line,

Got a few more miles to go.

Then the back end started moving,

    Something didn't feel right,

She was swaying like a boat out on the water,

So I pulled off to the side.

Got out and took a look around,

Didn't take too long to see,

That rear tire had gone flat on me,

Well, there went my easy evening.

    Got the jack out,

    grabbed the spare,

    Hoping there was enough air,

Didn't have another choice that day,

Had to get back on my way.

Got that flat tire off the ground,

    Put the spare on,

    tightened it down,

She wasn't swaying quite as bad,

But it was still the strangest ride I'd had.

That old square body kept rolling along,

Even when the road went wrong,

    Kept my speed down,

    took it slow,

Had a few more miles before home.

Swayin' like a boat down a back road,

    Dust flying everywhere I go,

Old square body, doing the best she can,

Just trying to get home like a working man's plan.

    Kept my foot light,

    didn't push my luck,

Just me and my old Chevrolet truck,

    A little less air,

    a long way to go,

Still rolling steady, taking it slow.

    Finally pulled into the driveway,

Shut her down at the end of the day,

That flat tire riding in the bed,

Thinking 'bout the miles I'd left behind instead.

Found the hole and fixed that tire,

Got it patched up and ready to ride,

    Hooked up the compressor,

    filled it with air,

Got the pressure right and checked the spare.

Now that spare was ready to go,

For the next back road or the next long road,

Put everything back where it belonged,

Another little story for a country song.

    Swapped those tires back around,

Got the good tire back on the ground,

Checked the pressure, made sure she was right,

    Ready for another country drive.

That old Chevy's seen a thing or two,

But there's still a lot of road to cruise,

And if trouble comes around again,

I'll fix her up and hit the road,

    my friend.

Swayin' like a boat down a back road,

Now she's riding straight as an arrow,

Old square body, with her tires aired,

Ready for the miles and the roads out there.

    Didn't need luck, didn't need a tow,

Just took my time and took it slow,

Now she's ready for wherever I go,

No more swayin' like a boat down the road.

So here's to the Chevy and the roads we roam,

The flat tires fixed and the spare aired up at home,

There's a whole lot of country

left to explore, And that old square body ain't done yet,

    that's for sure.

    (sure ain't)
