Get comfortable.
You don’t need to figure anything else out tonight.
Nothing needs to be organized before you sleep.
Nothing needs to be solved.
The plans can wait.
The numbers can wait.
The ideas can wait.
Tonight, you can simply rest.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it go.
Again.
Breathe in.
And breathe out.
Feel your shoulders soften.
Let your jaw relax.
Let your body become heavy against the bed.
And quietly,
in your heart, say:
God,
thank You for where I am.
Thank You
for where You are leading me.
Help me recognize the life You are building with me,
and give me the wisdom to care for it well.
I imagine waking up in my home.
My home.
And I love it here.
Not because it looks like somebody else’s house.
Not because every room is perfectly clean or every project is finished.
I love it
because it feels like us.
There are pieces of me everywhere.
Colors I chose
because they make me happy.
Little things that are whimsical
just because I like them.
Pictures of my babies.
Memories from trips.
Things Mike and I have collected
over the years.
My home doesn’t fight against me anymore.
It supports me.
There are systems where we need systems.
There are baskets where somebody inevitably drops their stuff.
There are cozy blankets.
There are family pictures.
But there is peace here.
There is God here. I
walk
through my
home and think, I
really love the life we are creating
here.
