Barriers of the Silent Border

Steel in the sand where the desert grows cold,

A multi-tiered fence and a story retold.

Thick concrete barriers sunk deep in the ground,

While millions look on without making a sound.

Why stand at the gate with the doors locked so tight?

To turn away brethren into the dark night?

The walls reach the sky,

and the deep trenches stay,

While silent neighbors just look the other way. (ahhhh)

Out in the Sinai,

the patrols march the line,

Guarding the perimeter, section and sign.

Voices ask quietly across the divide,

Why those who speak the same language must hide.
