Boogeyman’s Lullaby

Turn the latch,

bolt the wooden door

Footsteps dragging on the floorboards

(watch your back)

Street lamps flicker on a cold dead block Counting down the ticking

of an old grandfather clock Fog rolled in when the sun went

down He’s lurking in the gutters of a quiet little town

Floorboards creaking right behind your neck

Leave your courage in a shattered wreck (shhh)

When the midnight bell begins to chime Run faster child,

you are out of time No hiding place underneath the bed

He hears every single word you said The boogeyman follows every kid

home (The boogeyman follows every kid home) Nowhere safe when you walk

alone

Three sharp knocks on the front room pane Tap tap tap like

a frozen rain

Look out the curtain but there’s no silhouette A cold winter chill

that you won’t forget

Claws on the siding,

creeping up the stairs

Cut through the silence of your evening prayers

Breath on the glass,

fogging up the view

He came through the chimney just to find you

When the midnight bell begins to chime Run faster child,

you are out of time No hiding place underneath the bed

He hears every single word you said

The boogeyman follows every kid home (The boogeyman follows every kid home)

Nowhere safe when you walk alone

Lock every window, blow out the flame

Don't you dare speak his wicked name He's already inside

There's nowhere left to hide

Final hour striking as the floorboard yields Dragging his boots across the

barren fields

Under the mattress, inside the wall He casted a shadow twenty inches

tall

Run if you can but you cannot flee

He's got the master padlock key

Catch your breath, hear the handle turn Watch the last wick of

candle burn (it's too late)

When the midnight bell begins to chime

Run faster child, you are out of time No hiding place underneath

the bed

He hears every single word you said The boogeyman follows every kid

home (The boogeyman follows every kid home) Nowhere safe when you walk

alone

(The boogeyman follows every kid home) Don’t look behind you

(The

boogeyman follows

every kid home) (goodnight)
