All night in the ER
Corridor Spot 3
Mom's not doing so well
But she's worried about me
We started out in Fast Track
Things turned very slow
Moved us to the corridor
How long we do not know
The neighbors in the corridor
Are very close at hand
We wait in rows,
impatient
Travellers in a foreign land
The nurses in the corridor
They seem so very stressed
So many tasks and needs
And all must be addressed
Oh that we could be elevated
Above the corridor
To meet the lofty nurses
Who work upon the Floor
In that far distant country
They say that there are Beds
With pillows and with blankets
To comfort weary heads
(weary heads)
The HVAC system grinds and moans A fan needs maintenance
I fear repair will not arrive
Unless by happenstance
Exam Room three has challenges Perhaps some nudity
Corridor spot five awaits His morning surgery
The lab nurse holds her tray aloft She strolls so cheerily
As to her hands she gathers all
The night's phlebotomy
The night is drawing to a close The nurses write their charts
And soon another shift arrives With valour in their hearts
A surgeon's cap is spotted!
The new day has arrived
Mom's sleeping now
Sleep till the dawn arrives (sleep till the dawn
arrives)
