(hahaha) (My Uncle ruined Christmas!)
He showed up two hours late With a casserole and a grin
Said, "Traffic was a nightmare," Though he only lives three streets in
He walked right through the kitchen Like he owned the place again
And asked, "Where's that good chair?" Before he said hello to kin
(Here
we go!) (My Uncle ruined Christmas!) That's what everybody said
He spilled gravy on the table Then he knocked down half the
bread He changed the channel during dinner To a game nobody watched
Then he fell asleep in Grandpa's chair With the television on
(My Uncle ruined Christmas!)
Well, that's what everybody claimed
But nobody left the party And nobody stayed ashamed
He brought a gift for everybody But he mixed up every name
Gave Aunt Louise a fishing reel And Dad a picture frame
He told the same old story That we've heard a hundred times
Then halfway through the punchline He forgot the punchline (He forgot it!)
He laughed for thirty seconds
Like he'd planned it all along
(hahahaha) (My Uncle ruined Christmas!) He was getting on our nerves
He ate the pie before the turkey And took the biggest piece
of dessert
He tried to lead a sing-along And started in the wrong key
Then blamed the piano player Who was actually
Uncle Lee
(I thought you played piano!) (I don't!) (hahahaha)
Then somebody broke a string And the dog stole someone's ham
The kids were running through the hallway While Ray was shouting,
"Here I am!" He knocked over the Christmas tree Trying to dance
across the room
And Mom just stood there laughing Saying,
"Ray, what did you do?"
(What did you do?!) He looked around the living room At the
tinsel on the floor And said,
"Well, I guess Christmas Won't be doing that anymore." (hahaha)
But years from now,
somebody's gonna say "Remember that Christmas night?"
And everybody's gonna laugh Before they even get it right
They won't remember every present Or what we had to eat They'll
remember Uncle Ray Dancing with his Christmas feet
So maybe he didn't ruin Christmas… (Maybe he
didn't…) Maybe he just gave us one We'll never forget.
(My Uncle ruined Christmas!) Yeah,
that's what we said that night
He turned the house upside down And somehow made it right He
spilled the gravy, broke the tree And sang three verses wrong But
twenty years from now We'll still be singing this song (My Uncle
ruined Christmas!) Well, Uncle Ray,
you might have But if ruining Christmas means We all come laughing
back… Then ruin it again!
(Ruin it again!) Come on,
Ray! (I got a casserole!)
(NO!) (My Uncle ruined Christmas!)
