  • Texas Tales and Braids

    Texas Tales and Braids

    Rionah

    (haha

    yeah, listen up)

Texas heat got me sweatin' through my shirt,

    Grandpa on the porch like,

"Boy, it could be worse." Long braids swingin' every time he tells

a tale, He starts one story and somehow it takes a year

    to sail.

He says, "Back in my day..."

    —

    here we go again,

    Same story from Tuesday,

    Wednesday, Thursday, and then.

I'm lookin' at the clock like,

"Grandpa, are you done?" He says,

"Hold up, I forgot the best part,

    son."

Keep going, Grandpa, tell that story again,

I heard it six times but I'll listen till the end.

    (that's right) Texas heat cookin',

    braids blowin' in the breeze,

Grandpa got more stories than there are cows in Texas,

    please!

He got the whole family trapped,

nobody can leave, 'Cause Grandpa found another story nobody asked to receive.

He says, "This'll only take a minute or two," Forty-five minutes later,

    he's still on part two.

    (oh no)

His braids got more mileage than my old truck,

    And when Grandpa starts talking,

    you better wish him luck.

He points at the sky like he knows every star,

Then tells us how he once walked ten miles to get a

    candy bar.

Keep going, Grandpa, tell that story again,

I heard it six times but I'll listen till the end.

Texas heat cookin', braids blowin' in the breeze,

Grandpa got more stories than there are cows in Texas,

    please!

    So here we sit,

    sweating in the Texas sun,

Grandpa still talking — and he's nowhere near done.

    Long braids, big stories,

    laughing all night,

    "Grandpa,

    PLEASE finish!" — "Hold up,

    I got one more,

    alright?" (hahaha)
