six days

since the wave crossed over

six days,

not a word

a green light

burning on the far bank

saying someone's still there

the lamp stays lit all through the night

but no shadow ever moves a

light can say I'm here

without a hand ever showing

a light left on isn't the same as an answer

it just means the switch was never touched

you can watch a window for as long as you like

it doesn't owe you what's behind it
