Blinding Betrayal

I stepped outside, the sky was clear,

Then came the pain I truly fear.

A golden beam, a blinding light,

The sun declared that it would fight!

I turned away, I tried to hide,

But there it was,

right by my side!

I screamed so loud,

the birds flew high,

“WHY, OH WHY, IS THE SUN IN MY EYE?”

THE SUN IN MY EYE!

I’m fighting for my life!

It burns like fire,

it shines so bright,

I cannot see, I’ve lost the light!

THE SUN IN MY EYE!

This is my final cry!

The world is bright,

my future’s dry,

ALL BECAUSE THE SUN’S IN MY EYE!

I grabbed my hat,

I found a tree,

But that sun still followed me!

I closed my eyes,

I begged the sky,

“Please give me shade before I die!” The clouds rolled in,

I felt relief,

But then they left—what a betrayal,

grief!

(shhh) Oh, darkness, come and save me now…

I’m losing hope beneath this cloud…

One little ray,

one final sigh…
