    Equal Hands Hustle

    Jeff

I ain't here to say that one is better than the other,

    Man beside a woman,

    sister beside a brother.

    Maybe I said it wrong,

    maybe words got twisted,

    But listen to my heart,

    this ain't how I intended.

I don't think a woman should depend on a man,

And I don't think a man should have to do all he

can. If you're building a life,

    then build it together,

Through the storms and the sunshine,

    through the changing weather.

    It ain't about who's above,

    It ain't about who's below,

It's about two people choosing To carry what they both know.

    Equal hands,

    working side by side,

    Both got a voice,

    both got a life.

    You carry some,

I'll carry some, We don't leave the other one behind.

Not one does everything while the other just stands,

We're building something stronger with equal hands.

    Different roads, but the same

respect, Two people giving everything they can give.

One might work while the other stays home,

One might raise the kids while the other brings home.

Then life might change and the roles might switch,

That's what a partnership really is.

    It ain't gotta be perfect,

    it ain't gotta be even,

Every single day like somebody's keeping score.

    Sometimes one needs help,

    sometimes one needs more,

That's what being there for somebody is for.

    I don't want a person saying,

"You do it all," While they're sitting around watching the whole thing

fall. And that goes both ways,

    let me make that clear,

Man or woman, nobody should carry everything here.

Equal hands, working side by side,

    Both got a voice,

    both got a life.

    You carry some,

I'll carry some, We don't leave the other one behind.

Not one does everything while the other just stands,

We're building something stronger with equal hands.

Different roads, but the same respect,

Two people giving everything they can give.

Maybe we don't see the world the same,

    Maybe we disagree,

    maybe that's okay.

    I don't have every answer,

    I'm still learning every day,

But I know respect shouldn't ever fade away.

Equal doesn't mean we're exactly the same,

It means neither person's worth should depend upon their name.

    Not man over woman,

    not woman over man,

Just two human beings doing everything they can.

Equal hands, working side by side,

No one's underneath, no one's denied.

    When the road gets heavy,

    we

    can share the load,

    Walk together down the

    same long road.

Not about control, not about demands,

    It's about love, respect,

    and equal hands. Different strengths,

    but the same respect,

Give what you can and give your best.

So if I said it wrong,

    let me say it right:

    I believe in equal worth,

    equal voice, equal rights.

And when two people choose to build a life hand in hand,

It shouldn't be one carrying both— It should be equal hands.
