Born Wild

I wake where the iron meets the morning

Counting cracks across the stone

Every breath is a warning Every shadow says I’m not alone

They hung my silence on the ceiling

They nailed my dreams beneath the floor

But there’s a spark beneath the bleeding

And it’s pounding louder than before

You can lock the door You can bury the key

But the thing inside these walls

Still remembers how to breathe

I’m a bird in a cage,

still beating my wings

I’m a wolf in chains,

still hearing the night sing

I’m a bear full of rage,

with a storm in my bones

You can call this prison home

But you’ll never make it mine I was born wild And I

won’t die tame

They drew a line around my fury Said,

But the fire doesn’t ask permission
