It was Christmas Eve in a little Texas town
When Santa’s sleigh came tumbling down
Right behind the old Lone Star Saloon
At about ten minutes after half past noon Now I wasn’t looking
for trouble that day I was just riding home when I saw
that sleigh
Eight reindeer standing beside the road
And Santa yelling, “Somebody help me with this load!”
I didn’t mean to steal Christmas
It just kinda happened that way
I borrowed a sleigh,
I borrowed some reindeer And I borrowed Santa’s big red bag that
day
I swear I was gonna bring it back
Before the night was through
But things got complicated Like Christmas things tend to do
Well, Santa had a flat
and his GPS died
And Rudolph refused to go another mile
So I said, “Santa,
you just sit right there
I’ll get these presents delivered,
I swear”
He said, “Cowboy, you don’t know where they go!”
I said, “How hard can Christmas really be?”
He handed me the list
and climbed into my truck And that’s when I knew I was
in way too deep
We flew over rooftops We bounced across fields
We lost three presents And one of the wheels
Santa was yelling The reindeer were mad
And I was beginning to think
This might be
the worst Christmas I’d ever had
I didn’t mean to steal Christmas
It just kinda happened that way
I borrowed a sleigh,
I borrowed some reindeer And somehow I saved Christmas Day
I swear I’ll never do it again
Well… at least that’s what I said
But Santa left a job application
Underneath my bed
And every Christmas Eve at midnight
I hear bells up in the sky
And somewhere way above the Texas plains
I hear Santa yell…
“Cowboy!
You still owe me a wheel!” (hahaha)
