  • Separate Frequencies

    Separate Frequencies

    Froggington

    Two thousand nineteen, Suzuki,

    UK plate,

    turn of the key,

    she'll fire up lovely,

    mate

    — so it ain't the immobiliser,

    get that straight, transponder's talkin',

    that's a different frequency,

    wait

    — one two five kilohertz sat round the barrel,

    four three three up top,

    that's the separate quarrel,

two little radios livin' in one shell,

that's why the whole wide internet can't ever tell.

Both fobs dead — that ain't proof,

    that's noise,

two broken things don't make one voice.

Ain't the BCM, ain't the fuse,

    ain't the loom — rib.

Check the key, not the room.

First theory sounded lovely and neat,

receiver's gone, body module's dead on its feet

    — then he says nah,

some Polish bloke did it cheap,

one was shorted, and the good one?

    Lost in the street.

And the whole tree folded like a fiver in a fist:

    Key A's shorted — that's a corpse,

    not a twist.

Key C got cloned off a handheld box,

    never touched the car,

never opened the locks — no OBD,

    no BCM, no write,

so the remote was never registered.

    Alright. Two separate deaths,

    no conspiracy, just physics,

and a bloke, and a bad warranty.

Suzuki won't hand you the manual for free,

AZ-series sealed behind an RMI fee,

    SDT-Two's got a dongle you'll never see — F-zero-zero-K,

authorised dealers only. So it's Autel,

eight digits, PIN off a server,

and the warning on the screen says all keys will be erased

    — which sounds like a threat...

...till you remember what's out there.

    Key B is lost.

K "all keys accounted for" ain't a nice little device.

So the thing I flagged as danger?

    Flip it round.

Erase 'em all, that's the safest sound.

Wipe the memory, teach it two,

and the one in the gutter don't belong to you.

dash-S all, dash-A, tell me what you see — four three three

point nine two, payload rollin' free?

Then the fob's alive and it's the car that's clean.

    Three-one-five? That's a grey import ghost,

    wrong side of the planet,

    wrong side of the coast.

No arbitrary writes. No flashin' the ECU.

Read-only, boring, and boring gets it through.

Both fobs dead — that ain't proof,

that's noise, two broken things don't make one voice!

Ain't the BCM, ain't the fuse,

ain't the loom — check the key.

    Check the key.

Check the key, not the room.

    Two questions. Both free.

Did the lost one's remote work till the day it went?

And did he plug anything in under the dash?

    Answer those...

    ...and you've scoped the job.

    Ribbit.
