We worked so hard,

but paid their tax,

The British King kept pushing back.

We had no voice,

we had no say,

So we knew we had to find a way.

We tried to talk,

we tried to change,

But nothing ever stayed the same.

We knew our rights,

we knew our name,

And now we're ready to make a change.

We want freedom, we want rights,

We will stand and we will fight.

Life and liberty for everyone,

Our new country has begun.

Thirteen colonies stood as one,
