(hmmm, yeah)
Seventeen years old,
keys in my hand,
Brand-new GMC, just like I planned.
Pulled up to the house,
chrome shining bright, Dream I been chasing finally came to life.
They said, “A kid like you could never buy that,” Laughing at
me like I didn’t know where I was at.
Said, “That truck’s way too much for you,” But they didn't know
what I had to do.
Every word they said just lit that fire,
Every doubt pushed me a little bit higher.
I kept my head down,
let the haters talk,
Soon enough, they were gonna see me pull up.
Now I'm rolling through the school parking lot,
Brand-new GMC, shining like a million bucks.
They said I'd never have a truck like that,
Now they're staring when I pull up past.
Seventeen with my foot on the gas,
Funny how the ones who laughed ain't laughing now.
I never had to say a word to prove them wrong,
I just showed up in that GMC all along.
(all along)
Monday morning,
everybody knew, Heard the engine before they saw me pull through.
Same kids talking by the football field,
Standing there quiet when the truth got revealed.
One said, “Man, I thought you couldn't afford it,” I just smiled
like, “Yeah, you were wrong about it.”
Didn't need to brag,
didn't need to fight,
Just turned that key and watched the truck come alive.
You can talk behind my back,
You can say I'll never make it.
But I'm building something bigger
Every time you underestimate me.
I don't need revenge,
I don't need your applause,
I'll let my hard work speak While I'm driving down the road.
Now I'm rolling through the school parking lot,
Brand-new GMC, everything I wanted.
They said, “That kid could never own that truck,” Now they're watching
like they can't believe their luck.
Seventeen, but I learned one thing fast— Don't let somebody else decide
how far you'll go.
They can keep talking,
I got nothing to prove,
'Cause every time I start that GMC,
I'm reminded I made my own move.
Seventeen years old,
keys in my hand,
Brand-new GMC,
finally made my stand.
They said I couldn't…
So I
showed them I could.
