(mmmmm) I laugh when everybody’s laughing,
I smile like nothing’s wrong,
I tell them that I’m doing fine
And somehow play along.
But there are thoughts I never share,
And feelings I keep inside,
They only see the person smiling—
Not the tears I sometimes hide.
Nobody sees the weight I carry,
Nobody knows the things I’ve faced.
I keep moving through the hard days,
Even when I’m losing faith.
I may look okay from the outside,
But there’s more beneath my eyes.
I’m still learning how to heal
From the things I keep inside.
I carry pieces of the past
That I wish I could let go,
Memories that follow me
Wherever I may go.
Some days
I feel a little stronger,
Some days I lose my
way,
But I remind myself that healing
Doesn’t happen in one day.
Maybe someday I’ll find the courage
To tell somebody my truth,
Maybe then they’ll understand
The things I’ve been going through.
Nobody sees the weight I carry,
Nobody knows the things I’ve faced.
I keep moving through the hard days,
Even when I’m losing faith.
I may look okay from the outside,
But there’s more beneath my eyes.
I’m still learning how to heal
From the things I keep inside.
Until that day, I’ll keep on trying,
One small step at a time.
I don’t have to have the answers—
I just have to keep my light alive. (ahhhh)
