Stand and Sacrifice

I wake beneath a peaceful sky,

And watch our flag above me fly.

I walk these streets,

I hold my child,

And live my days both free and wild.

But freedom never came for free,

Someone stood where I could not be.

Someone answered duty’s call,

And risked their life to guard us all.

So from a grateful heart today,

There’s something I just need to say...

Thank you for standing when the danger came,

Thank you for serving without seeking fame.

For every lonely night away,

For every sacrifice you made.

Because you stood, because you fought,

We live beneath the freedom that you bought.

And from this ordinary soul,

Thank you, brave soldiers,

one and all.

Some came home with stories untold,

With memories that never grow old.

Some carried wounds we’ll never see,

A silent cost of liberty.

To every family waiting there,

Who lived through worry,

hope, and prayer, Our gratitude belongs to you,

For you served your country in your own

way too. And to the ones who never made it home,

Whose names are carved in marble and stone,

No words can equal what you gave,

No greater price could someone pay.

(rest in peace) You left behind the ones you loved,

And now you rest in peace above.

When flags are raised and children play,

Your sacrifice still speaks today.

We may not know your final fear,

Your final thought, your final tear,

But while this nation still remembers you,

Your courage will keep shining through.

Thank you for standing so that we stand free,

Thank you for guarding what this country means.

For those who returned,

we honor you, For those who fell,

we remember you. May every flag that meets the sky Remind us

why some had to die.

And may we never take for granted The precious freedom we were

handed.

From one grateful citizen,

To every daughter, every son,

To those still here and those now gone...

(thank you) Your names may fade from stone someday,

But not the price that you once paid.

As long as freedom’s flag still flies,

Your sacrifice will never die.
