Crossing Over

Another morning, same old room

Sunlight falling through the blinds

Coffee sitting on the table

Just another day of mine

I grab my coat and leave the house

Wave goodbye and shut the door

Never knowing that tonight

I won’t be here anymore

Cars are moving through the rain

People laughing, people talking

Then a light comes rushing close

Tires screaming, brakes are locking A flash of white A sudden crash

I try to breathe

But nothing lasts

I close my eyes… …goodbye.

…Where am I?

Three moons bloom above my head

Violet light across the land Silver rivers breathe below

Something moves beneath the sand I raise my hands into the air

They’re not the hands I used to know I touch my face,

I feel my skin

But something underneath still glows

I woke up beyond the stars Where no human eyes have been

I died beneath a distant sky And woke up somewhere else again

New body

New blood

New world New life

The woman that I used to be

Is still alive inside

Was I dreaming? Was I dying?

Was I leaving? Was I flying?

Maybe death was just a doorway Maybe life was changing shape I

lost my name I lost my home But something new remains I

woke up beyond the stars Beneath a sky of violet fire Two

suns rising on the sea

Something in me taking higher New body

New blood

New world

New life I don’t know what I’ve become

But I can feel myself alive
