I’m a little goblin
Living underground
I got crooked teeth And a funny little sound
They say, “Goblin, stop!
Goblins don’t sing!”
But every night
I hear something ring…
They threw rotten apples They called me a freak
I sang through a broken tooth Three nights a week
I don’t want their gold
I don’t want their crown
I just want a stage
And a microphone now
Maybe I’m ugly
Maybe I’m strange
But when I open my mouth
I feel something change
I WANNA SING!
I WANNA SING!
Who cares if I’m a goblin?
Let me sing!
I don’t need gold
I don’t need a crown
Just give me a stage And turn it up loud!
I’m just a goblin With a song in my heart
Laugh if you want
I’ll still play my part!
I climbed from my cave
I walked into town
I found a big stage With bright lights all around
The humans all stared I swallowed my fear
I grabbed the microphone… And sang so clear.
Nobody laughed…
Nobody moved…
Then one little voice said—
“Sing it again.”
So I did.
And suddenly…
The whole room sang with me.
I WANNA SING!
I WANNA SING!
Let the whole world hear This goblin sing!
I don’t need gold
I don’t need a crown
I found my voice And I won’t put it down!
I’m just a goblin
But now I know— A dream is a dream
No matter who you are.
They said goblins don’t sing…
So I sang louder.
