  • Stranded In The Arctic

    Stranded In The Arctic

    L2Y|1

    I wake where the world

    has turned to white,

No sun above, no end in sight.

    My hands are numb,

my vision blurred, I search my mind,

    but find no words.

    I don’t know my name.

    I don’t know this place.

    Just frozen breath

    Across my face.

The wind is screaming through the snow,

I know I have to keep moving slow.

    My legs are weak,

my fingers shake, One wrong step could be my last mistake.

I find a coat beneath the snow,

    A broken compass pointing low.

There’s something carved across the side,

    A single word:

    RUN.

    I turn around.

    Nothing moves.

Where am I? Who brought me here?

    Why does every answer disappear?

    The storm gets closer,

    The daylight fades.

I have to move Before I’m erased.

The cold is calling my name,

But I don’t know what to call myself.

Every breath is fire in my lungs,

Every step could be my last.

The cold is calling my name,

And the whiteout won’t let me see.

    If there’s a reason I’m alive,

Then something is waiting for me.

    So I keep walking,

    Through the frozen night.

    I don’t know where I’m going,

But I won’t give up the fight.

I find a signal buried deep,

A blinking light beneath the sleet.

I dig until my fingers bleed,

And pull a radio from underneath.

    Static fills the frozen air,

    Then suddenly— Someone’s there.

    A broken voice says,

“You’re not the first.” The signal dies.

    The silence hurts.

    Who was here?

    What did they know?

Why does this place feel like home?

    I close my eyes,

    And then I see

A door beneath the ice beneath me.

    The storm gets louder,

The sky disappears. I feel something buried Underneath my feet.

    I dig through the ice,

    I uncover the steel.

A frozen door That shouldn’t be here.

There’s a symbol on the surface.

    I’ve seen it before.

    I don’t remember where… But my hands

    do.

The cold is calling my name,

But I won’t let it take me now.

I may have lost my memories,

    But I’ll remember somehow.

The cold is calling my name,

And the ice is breaking underneath.

If there’s an answer buried here,

Then I’m finally getting close to me.

    I don’t know who I was,

    I don’t know why I’m here.

But somewhere in this frozen world,

    The truth is waiting near.

I step inside. The door closes behind me.

    A screen flickers on.

    One word appears:

    DESERT.
