Help me, Lord, I cry,
Faithful ones have all gone hence,
Loyal souls are rare.
Words are false and sweet,
Neighbors lie to neighbors now,
Darkness in the heart.
Pure words from the Lord,
Silver tested in the fire,
Gold refined times seven.
Safe the needy stand,
Sheltered by the living God,
Kept from wicked snares.
Silence, Lord, the proud,
All the lips that flatter men,
Cut
the
boastful tongue.
“We will win by speech,” Proud lips mock the living God,” Who
is lord of us?”
Verba sincera, Argentum igne probatum,
Septies aurum. Pauper stat tutus,
Vivi Dei perfugio, Mala
vitat laquea.
Poor and needy cry,
Plundered and in heavy grief,
“Now I rise,” says God.
Vile things praised by all,
Wicked people walk about,
Freely showing pride.
Pure words from the Lord,
Silver tested in the fire,
Gold refined times seven.
Safe the needy stand,
Sheltered by the living God,
Kept from wicked snares.
