Open to (.NET) Work

Twenty years of enterprise,

Yet somehow I’m not in the game.

I wrote a post at half past two: “AI CAN’T EVEN WRITE

.NET.” It made one nullable warning,

So obviously it’s useless yet.

It suggested Python — offensive.

TypeScript? Don’t make me laugh.

“Just learn the tool,” somebody wrote.

I blocked him on my behalf.

I KNOW C-SHARP!

I know DI!

I can tell you every reason Your repository pattern’s dry!

Don’t ask me what the customer needs,

Don’t ask what problem we solve.

Give me seventeen interfaces And six more months to evolve.

AI makes mistakes! Recruiters are fools!

The industry’s losing its way!

I’ve changed absolutely nothing Since two thousand and eight! (hahaha)

Interview Tuesday, absolute joke,

They barely tested what I know.

I mentioned covariance twice,

They said, “How did your product grow?” They asked about user feedback,

Metrics, trade-offs, shipping fast.

I said, “Before we go further,

Let’s discuss the CLR cast.” Then some product engineer asked: “What if

.NET wasn’t the fit?” I stared across the Teams call: “Why would

anybody do that shit?”

I KNOW C-SHARP!

LINQ and Tasks! Why are you asking business questions?

Ask me proper technical facts!

Don’t ask me to learn React,

Kubernetes, Go or Rust.

A framework once earned my mortgage — That framework earns my trust.

(oh yeah)

“I’m seeing a worrying trend in tech.”

Apparently “adaptability” matters now.

Apparently senior engineers should

“understand the product.” Apparently AI is a tool and not a personal

attack. Well, I asked Copilot for a method and it used the

wrong overload.

Case closed.

A mate said, “Try some Python,

Build an agent, learn the new stack.” I said,

“I’m not becoming junior Just to get my career back.” Cloud-native?

Done enough cloud. LLMs?

Mostly hype. Frontend? Not engineering.

Linux? Why would I type?

I’ve got twenty years’ experience — Though strangely,

year nineteen Looks quite a lot like year number six Repeated thirteen

times between. I KNOW C-SHARP!

Hear my plea! Why won’t the entire market Rearrange itself for me?

AI makes mistakes! Yes,

humans do too! But changing my own workflow?

That simply will not do.

So I’ll post another essay On where the industry went wrong,

Then launch Visual Studio 6… …and wait for work to come

along. (ahhhh)
