  • The Wisdom Path

    The Wisdom Path

    Enrique Flores

They told me wisdom comes with age...

    I don’t believe that.

    Some people grow old

    and never learn a thing.

Wisdom comes when you question what you see,

    question what you know,

    and sometimes... question yourself.

I walked through the fire with my eyes on the flame,

Had to lose who I was just to learn my own name.

    Every scar got a story,

    every fall left a clue,

Every time I said “I know,” life showed me something new.

I was chasing all the answers like they owed me the truth,

Till I learned that asking questions was the fountain of youth.

Not the body, but the mind,

keep it hungry, keep it free,

There are worlds behind the walls of what we think we see.

    I’ve seen kings without wisdom,

    poor men rich in thought,

Seen a lesson worth millions that a dollar never bought.

    So I listen before speaking,

    I observe before I choose,

Because the loudest in the room ain't got the least to lose.

Look beyond what you’ve been told,

There’s a universe inside your soul.

    Every question lights the road,

And every road leads somewhere unknown.

Sagacious... I’m searching for the meaning in the pages.

Through the darkness, through the changes,

Wisdom made me fearless through the ages.

    Sagacious...

I don't need to claim that I'm the greatest.

    I just question, learn,

and face it, 'Cause a mind that keeps on growing becomes ageless.

I used to think success was standing higher than the rest,

Now I know the greatest victory is mastering yourself.

You can own a thousand kingdoms,

have your name carved into stone,

But what good is all that power if you fear being alone?

So I sit beneath the heavens while the stars become my clock,

Thinking how a tiny question can make certainty unlock.

    Maybe strength is saying,

“I don't know, but I will learn,” Maybe wisdom isn't given,

    maybe wisdom must be earned.

    Through betrayal, through the losses,

through the nights I couldn't see,

Every chapter took a piece and built another part of me.

I don't curse the road behind me,

I respect the road I crossed,

Because sometimes what you find is worth everything you lost.

    Ask.

    Why do we love?

    Why do we fear?

Why do we wait when tomorrow isn't here?

    Why do we judge

    what we don't understand?

    Why do we follow

when we're born to take a stand?

Maybe wisdom isn't knowing where the journey ends.

Maybe wisdom is having the courage

    to begin again.

Sagacious... I’m searching for the meaning in the pages.

Through the darkness, through the changes,

Every battle turned my pain into greatness.

    Sagacious...

Let the questions take you places.

Don't be frightened by the spaces

where the answers haven't shown their faces.

So when they ask me what I know,

I tell 'em, “Not enough.” I've survived enough to know that knowing

ain't enough. Keep your heart open wide,

    keep your judgment under control,

    'Cause intelligence fills the mind...

    But wisdom shapes the soul.

True wisdom is not having every answer.

    It is having enough courage

    to keep asking the questions

that everyone else is afraid to ask.

    Sagacious.
