Waiting on Grace

I used to want it right now,

couldn’t wait on the Lord,

Had my own plans mapped out,

thought I knew the reward.

When the pressure got heavy,

I was ready to fight,

But You whispered, “Be patient,

I’m still working at night.” Every wound that I carried,

every word that was said,

I was holding onto anger like a weight on my chest.

Then You showed me the cross,

said, “Look what I forgave,” If I’m covered by grace,

why am I chained to the pain?

So I’m letting go,

Of what I can’t control.

You’re shaping my heart

While You’re making me whole.

Teach me patience when I wanna run,

Teach me forgiveness when the damage is done.

Help me trust You when I cannot see,

Your timing is better than it ever could be.

I’ll wait on You,

Give me Your heart,

make me more like You— With patience and grace in everything I

do.

I remember those nights when I prayed through the tears,

Wondering why You were silent,

fighting doubt and my fears.

But the silence wasn’t absence,

You were building my faith,

Sometimes growth takes patience,

sometimes healing takes days.

And the people who hurt me—I release them today,

Not because what they did was okay,

but because of Your grace.

I don't need revenge,

I don't need them to see,

You can handle their judgment,

You can handle their story.

Forgive like You forgave me,

Love like You first loved me.

Wait when I don't understand,

Trust that You still hold my hand.

No bitterness, no chains,

You turned my sorrow into praise.

I’m not who I used to be— Your grace is changing me.
